While summer is still holding on strong, UPSDA Board members have undertaken the rather huge job of implementing project management software. After reviewing three of the most popular software programs, Zoho Projects was selected. We are currently reviewing numerous Milestones (as Zoho labels them) and the Task Lists, Tasks, and Sub-tasks associated with completing the milestones. Examples of Milestones include start/finish, checkpoints, trail, musher registration, fundraising, officials and veterinarians, banquets, merchandise, and the always essential volunteers. Board members involved with these functions are busy analyzing what has to be done, who does what, and when things should be completed. We all agreed that while setting this system up will be time-consuming and probably frustrating at times, the end result will be worth the effort. As we move through the process of planning the February races, well be able to see what has been completed, what needs to be done, and who is responsible. And next year, when we update the race dates, the software will adjust the calendar to help us keep our tasks on track.
