Volunteer Orientation, Dog Handler Training, and Race Overview
Veteran mushers, UPSDA Board members, and our volunteer coordinators offer a close-up look at aspects of the upcoming sled dog races, including volunteer orientation and dog handler training.
Essential practice for new dog handlers and valuable information for volunteers. Spectators welcome – get a new perspective about what you see at the races and what it takes to make the races happen from both a musher and race organization perspective!

Program will begin inside with an overview of mushing equipment, volunteer opportunities and responsibilities, and the basics of doghandling. Session ends outdoors with a dog handling activity. Program runs approximately 2 hours.
