Midnight Run mushers will proceed north from Gwinn paralleling M-553 after the start. A good viewing spot along their route can be found on Co. Rd 480. As you drive west toward Negaunee on Co Rd 480, on the right you will see a gravel pit. Park along the roadway here and watch the teams cross.
The gravel pit can be easily driven to by driving north along M-553 from Gwinn towards Marquette. At the four way intersection of Co. Rd 480 and M-553 (known locally as the "crossroads") turn left. The gravel pit is located just a few minutes down the road.
