2009 MUSHER INFORMATION
Race Headquarters will open on Wednesday, February 18. 2009 and will remain open until Monday, February 23, 2009 . ALL MUSHERS MUST REGISTER PRIOR TO THE MANDATORY MEETINGS.( Please allow 30 minutes ). Additional race information, trail descriptions and any additional forms requiring your signature will be on hand. If you are under 14 years of age, parental and race official approval is needed.
The mandatory musher meetings are on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Holiday Inn. The UP200 meeting begins with a roll call and will run from 5:30-6:15PM ( EST ). The MIDNIGHT RUN meeting which begins with a roll call will run from 4:30-5:15PM ( EST ) . The meeting room will be posted at registration. NOTE: THE MEETING TIMES HAVE CHANGED SINCE THE RULES WERE POSTED ON THE WEB PAGE .
The Musher ( Bib Draw Banquet ) will be held at the Holiday Inn, On Thursday, February 19, 2009. There will be a social hour prior to the dinner at 6:30. MUSHERS ARE REQUIRED TO BE PRESENT AS BIB NUMBERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED. All mushers receive one complimentary ticket which will be given to you at registration. ( Additional tickets can be purchased at a designated table during headquarter hours )
This banquet will be held in Munising ( 4PM ) on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Sydney’s Restaurant. All Midnight Run mushers receive one complimentary ticket. You will get your meal tickets during registration. ( Additional tickets can be purchased at a designated table during headquarter hours )
The breakfast will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Holiday Inn. All UP200 mushers receive one complimentary ticket. You will get your meal tickets during registration. ( Additional tickets can be purchased at a designated table during headquarter hours )
ALL banquet tickets are being sold during headquarter hours. A designated area will be set up. NO tickets will be sold prior to headquarters opening on Wednesday, February 18 th, 2009.
There will be a split draw. If there are 40 entries, the first 20 will be draw 1-20 . Bib numbers will be drawn in the order of entry. The UPSDA Board of Directors will conduct the bib draw during the mandatory musher meetings, and be given to the mushers at the Thursday night banquet.
The MANDATORY vet check for all teams will be held on Friday, Feb.20, 2009 in the Holiday Inn parking lot and at Riverside Auto, adjacent to the hotel. Please remember that it is very important to keep your vet check time. Mushers missing their vet check time could result in not getting your dogs checked prior to the mandatory meetings. YOU MUST CALL DENISE AT 906-228-7749to reserve your time. Please indicate to her which race you have registered for. Rabies must be given by a veterinarian at least TWO weeks prior to the race. UP200 mushers must also turn in their drop dog bags for the unassisted checkpoint during their vet check.
The UPSDA voted to make a change in the way refunds are handled for the 2009 race. Please go on line to the web page for details. (up200.org)
There are three major events in Marquette race weekend so it is best you make hotel/motel reservations NOW, as rooms are filling up fast.
