About the Dogs...

Alaskan Husky

Good description and history of Alaskan Husky
Alaskans originated from the native northern dogs and were mixed with other breeds. They were introduced by white settlers. At the U.P. 200, Midnight Run and Jack Pine 30, this is the breed you will see the most.

Alaskan Malamute
The Alaskan Malamute is a heavier dog that excels in freighting, packing and weight pulling. Although not necessarily a winner at racing, this breed has a distinctive "trot" which they can maintain for long distances.
Siberian Husky The Siberian Husky was brought into the U.S. in 1919 to race. The breed has many coat colors and eye colors and is most identified by the public as a "sled dog".
