Race Date: 12 days away and counting.
Dear fellow spies,
I have been hard at work on the trail of various suspects. As you can see by the dog team listing, we have had many teams drop out of the race. I think this may be because the word is getting out that I am on the case.
Of course during my investigation I have come up with different theories. I noticed that the U.P. 200 has had two mushers from Canada drop out. This could be an important lead in the investigation. I've always wondered about the Canadian Connection. You know the head race judge is a Canadian. Yep. Keith Peppler is what the dogs call him. Doesn't that seem suspicious to you? He bears watching. I'll put Snowman on him as soon as he shows up in town.
Recently there has been a lot of press regarding whether the races will be run. There have been several sponsors who have decided not to support them this year, a decision that has a lot to do with the economy. I bet it is because of the conspiracy to get the formula; oh - I mean it is probably just because we don't have as many sponsors as we did last year.
The economy is often hard for young spies to understand. I think of it like this: when the economy is not good, I get fewer dog treats. When the economy is good, I get lots. Simple, huh?
Did you notice that the dogs who pull Don Galloway won the Beargrease mid-distance race? Those dogs are still coming to the Midnight Run. I don't think they are going to the Iditarod, but since they are so fast, they could easily be conscripted into messengers for carrying secrets. This will be a very hard case to crack.
If any of you young spies have any ideas that you are willing to share, send me an email through the snowman's account:
I will use the best ones on my race report web pages. Thanks for your help.
