U.P. 200/MIDNIGHT RUN SLED DOG RACE DRAWING BIG NAMES TO RACE
MARQUETTE -- The UP 200/Midnight Run organizers announced today that they will be hosting Jay Feely, kicker for the New York Giants and Rebecca Humphries, Director of the Michigan DNR for the weekend of the race, February 16, 17, & 18, 2007. Both Feely and Humphries will be attending the Thursday night mushers banquet at the Holiday Inn and the opening ceremonies on Friday evening in downtown Marquette along with various other events happening over the weekend.
"We are so excited that Mr. Feely, who also works with ESPN along with the New York Giants would find this event worthy of bringing his family to and offer to help us in any way we want. The fact that Ms. Humphries is coming to view this race, much of which is run on a DNR operated trail is significant to the event", stated Pat Black, Director of the Marquette Country CVB and UP 200/Midnight Run Board member.
"Both of them will be offered the opportunity to ride a sled out of town if they so wish and we hope they will take us up on it," stated Black. "We will keep the public updated on the events they are attending via www.up200.org."
